When to put ads on your website?
So the big question about ads and you're really excited about your news site. So you want to know when you're going to put ads on there. No ads on your site for the first 10 or 14 days of posting 3 posts a day and three posts to your Facebook page every single day.
Now I understand you're eager, you want to make some income with this. But if you take it too fast you're going to have some problems especially if you don't have an Adsense account. The other thing is if you don't have an Adsense account already, no ads until you have been accepted into the Adsense program. So when you go and apply for Adsense you're going to have a nice looking site that looks professional with no ads. And if you already have an Adsense account no ads until you have some content and traffic. Believe me, the reason why is when you first put on sense Google starts to visit your site to see your content and traffic. And if a brand new site starts to serve ads and has no quality traffic they will place low quality ads on your site. And when you actually start building your site you're going to have really low returns. So it's important to wait 10 to 14 days, three posts a day and three posts to your Facebook page to start sending traffic.
A warninng about your Ads - when too much is too much
Let me tell you this your visitors hate ads especially when there are too many of them. You've got to find the balance of profitability but also serving and make sure that all your visitors have a great experience on your website. And of course you can make money with low quality sites, it's up to you whether you want to have a long term business or not.
Adsense placement
Now you have content on your site and it looks very beautiful, your Assets account got approved, you already ran some Facebook campaigns to send some traffic. Now it's time to place your ads but all placements are not created equal. Some of them will make you great income and some will make you less. That's why you need to do some split testing to tell which ad formats and which placements make you more income than the other. But here is the good news. I'm going to save you time and money and show the optimal ads placement for both desktop and mobile but that doesn't guarantee that it will work for you. It depends on your template, your niche, traffic quality and what i'm going to show here works almost for everyone.
Now let's talk about desktop ads placement: This is the anatomy of ads placement on desktop: So you've got an ad block underneath the post title some pictures and you got one in the middle of your content. The one right above the Next button and an ad on the side bar. This is the best ad placement strategy that works really well on desktop.
Now be careful with the spacing between your ad and the next button. It should be at least 20 pixels.
Now let's see mobile ads placement: The first ad beneath the post title and the second one between the content and above the next button. But be careful do not place a square ad beneath the post title in mobile because it's against Access placement policies.
So we have found this to be the optimal placement but I recommend you to test and tweak and placement and let it run for two days until you find the perfect placement for your template and let's say it again when you run Adsense on your site. It takes time to optimize. Have patience and be consistent with it.
