Weight loss can be very frustrating at times. Too often, people give up on diets very quickly. Some people have been doing everything they can to lose weight. They have exercised faithfully. They have tried Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers. You name it, they have tried it. However, for some reason, the scale just does not seem to move. Here are some reasons why this may happen.
Many times people indulge too much during the weekends. Weekend indulging can wreak havoc on a week’s worth of healthy and sensible eating. That is not to say that one has to spend their entire weekend munching on celery and carrot sticks. Rather, the key is to plan indulgences so that one still has an enjoyable time eating food without sabotaging weight loss goals.
For more sensible weekend eating, a person should avoid going full-force on the indulgences. Instead, they should choose to eat one or two tasty foods and for the rest of the weekend, eat healthy. Also, instead of using food as a reward, one should choose a nice bubble bath or a walk in the park.
Another reason why people don’t reach their weight loss goals has to do with a lack of exercise. Many people believe that exercise isn’t that important. However, in reality, a person must work very hard to alter the shape of their body.
Effectively reshaping the body requires intense cardio exercise combined with strength training.
Furthermore, walking is an exercise that is easy to do. However, this form of exercise may not be the best choice for those looking to lose weight quickly.
Losing weight takes work. That is the bottom line. Studies reveal that the required thirty minutes of exercise per day is not enough to prevent obesity. That amount of exercise is recommended merely to maintain good health. To maintain weight, experts recommend an hour of exercise per day. If a person is not reaching weight goals, they should consider what kind of effort they are putting into their daily exercise routine.
Lastly, many people don’t lose the weight they want to lose because they consume too much food. That’s easy to do, especially if little or no attention is paid to the specific number of calories eaten each day. Restaurants often serve up more food than the average person should eat. However, keeping a daily food journal will help one keep track of daily caloric intake.
